Tony Warren
Swedish-American portrait artist. Trained in Old Master technique. Works acquired by Nordiska Museet. Royal commissions since 2010.
Tony Warren is a Swedish-American painter working in the tradition of classical portraiture — where precision of hand, depth of character, and permanence of material converge.
Born in Düsseldorf in 1961 to an American father and Swedish mother, Warren grew up in Ockelbo, Gästrikland. After years working across professions and continents, he came to painting later — and with singular focus. He trained at the School of Representational Art (SORA) in Chicago, founded by Bruno Surdo in River North, where the Old Master tradition is taught without compromise.
His work entered public consciousness in 2010 when Tillgivenhet (Devotion) — created as the royal wedding gift to Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel — was received at the Swedish Royal Palace. In 2012, the original drawing and related objects were acquired by Nordiska Museet as contemporary cultural heritage. The work is now registered in Europeana.
Warren accepts a limited number of commissions each year. Work is placed through direct inquiry, reviewed personally. He is based at Cafe Secret Garden and Fine Art, Skolgatan 27, Borås.

"Art is not just about depiction — it is about preserving history, legacy, and the very soul of humanity through painting."
